New Rich Friends

I had to introduce you to my two new best friends and they are rich….very rich.  At High Point Furniture Market I was introduced to these high brow movers and shakers that go by the names of Fine Art Lamps and Dorya.  Upon walking into their showrooms I was overwhelmed by their well-heeled exemplification of fine living.

Fine Art Lamps creates some of the most unique lighting I have ever seen.  From sculptural lamps to architectural chandeliers, they do it all.  The company’s roots date back to the late nineteenth century and it has assembled the best engineers, designers and craftsmen that have honed the skills to bring the  most magical of ideas to fruition.

Dorya started constructing furniture and millwork for big corporations in 1979.  The company entered the residential market in the late 1980s and has since carved its niche at the top with its big money style.  With palaces, embassies and presidential buildings in its repertoire, if you can afford these pieces then you have really made it in life.  The flowing patterns of the rich woods and sumptuous fabric inspire you to fight for that corner office.  Check it out and melt.

It must be nice to be rich…very rich.  Now I understand why NeNe Leakes announces it every chance she gets!

#WhatIsaw at High Point Market

I just marked off one of my longest running bucket list items…. attending High Point Furniture Market.  In brief conversation with a good family friend/ designer extraordinaire that was planning to attend the fall market, I blurted out “OMG I have always wanted to go!”  To my surprise she invited me to tag along as a design enthusiest/ maven-in-training.

I have been to High Point many times on random shopping trips and it always had a kinda sleepy drabness to the place, but it surely livens up for market.  The streets buzzed with cars and buses, while busy buyers, dealers and designers scurried the sidewalks and showroom corridors in search of the next big thing.  We walked for miles visiting showrooms where I witnessed the most amazing colors, fabrics, designs and trends that you know I couldn’t wait to share.

This is just a taste of the many things I saw, loved, hated and was dazed by.  It was a great introduction and experience I look forward to returning to explore some more.  I guess the old adage really does hold some weight “it’s not what you know, but who you know.”  And it paid off big time.
