Ohh Horchow

Horchow’s new ads for the warmer season are popping up in media depicting what it calls “the new kind of elegance”.  I have always held this brand in high regard because it critically chooses only the best and then places it all together in one centralized catalog.  If you are not familiar, The Horchow Collection is the oldest luxury catalog around and just for an idea of the level of luxuriousness, it falls under the silken corporate umbrella of Neiman Marcus.  Although overall pretty pricey at first glance, it is a great place to get ideas of what is new and haute.  The collection is very lux yet still inviting due to the warm, textured fabrics and the mixture of modern lines with traditional details.  They even brought mod sexy back with good ole wood paneling.  Here are some of my favorites in the new arrivals:

New Rich Friends

I had to introduce you to my two new best friends and they are rich….very rich.  At High Point Furniture Market I was introduced to these high brow movers and shakers that go by the names of Fine Art Lamps and Dorya.  Upon walking into their showrooms I was overwhelmed by their well-heeled exemplification of fine living.

Fine Art Lamps creates some of the most unique lighting I have ever seen.  From sculptural lamps to architectural chandeliers, they do it all.  The company’s roots date back to the late nineteenth century and it has assembled the best engineers, designers and craftsmen that have honed the skills to bring the  most magical of ideas to fruition.

Dorya started constructing furniture and millwork for big corporations in 1979.  The company entered the residential market in the late 1980s and has since carved its niche at the top with its big money style.  With palaces, embassies and presidential buildings in its repertoire, if you can afford these pieces then you have really made it in life.  The flowing patterns of the rich woods and sumptuous fabric inspire you to fight for that corner office.  Check it out and melt.

#WhatISaw this Weekend

It pays to get out the house because it always ends in learning something new.  This Labor Day weekend I was getting cabin fever so I decided to trek a short distance to visit Boyles Furniture & Rugs flagship store in Mocksville, NC for its big holiday weekend sale.

If you aren’t familiar with the company, it has been around for over 60 years as the go-to location for top-notch furniture brands such as Baker, Drexel and Henredon, at discounted prices.  The company experienced the quake of the recession, but has reemerged this year with a rejuvenated vision that is bound to attract shoppers and designers across the spectrum in search of timeless, well-made pieces.  Below are some pictures of my favorites from the trip.

If you visit Boyles you will be overcome with welcoming employees willing to assist and maybe even hand you a cool beverage while you peruse.  While there, I met one of the Boyles owners and his wife who together own a furniture brand called Snug Furniture.  They have some amazing globally inspired pieces for inside and outside the home.  Check Snug out below.
