Bye-Bye Baby…. Hello Aqua

Yesterday I gave you an inside look at the renovation of my parent’s guest bathroom.  Remember the baby blue tile, wallpaper and all-around cry for help?  If not go back to the last post.  We did a major overhaul and it turned out fabulously.  Dad got his spark of modern gray and Mom got her traditional touches, plus some extras.  Check out the After pictures below:

The buttery wall color kept the space warm and inviting but mixes well with any palette.  The metallic detail of the framed mirrors gives a taste of glamour to the space and echoes the chrome fixtures and hardware.  The artwork, found at HomeGoods, was the perfect touch of geometry and color.

The Santa Cecilia Light granite countertops created a perfect marriage of all the room’s tones with its specks of brown, gold, black, ivory and grey.  The granite was continued from the sinks to the back counter and a standing pantry cabinet was installed for storage and to add a vertical element to the narrow space.

I didn’t want to go overboard with the chrome so I chose oil-rubbed bronze accessories and added some greenery for freshness.  Also, Dad demanded that there be a clock in his bathroom, what is he timing anyway?

To eliminate having too much stuff on the walls we opted for 2 ring hooks next to the sinks for face and hand towels, then 1 double towel rod outside the shower.  They all do double duty.

We continued the aqua in the Nate Berkus rugs from Target, the window valance (yes I know it needs to be ironed) and the artwork.  Coordinating gray and aqua towels were purchased that can be mixed and matched, all from Calvin Klein (my favorite).

The faux plants and wicker hamper and waste basket add a hint of nature and tranquility.  Speaking of peaceful, the new shower head from Delta will relieve any unnecessary stress.

All in all, my parents were overwhelmed and super-pleased.  They deserve a lovely space and they got it.  I wish them many more comforting showers and personal moments in the New Year, lol.
